Dianatal® obstetric gel is sterile, contains no preservatives, is latex-free and is hypoallergenic. Up to now no side effects or interactions have been reported in connection with the use of Dianatal® obstetric gel.
How is Dianatal® obstetric gel used during childbirth?
Dianatal® obstetric gel is applied directly into the birth canal by your midwife or obstetrician during vaginal examinations throughout the process of labour. This should begin with the very first vaginal examination following the onset of regular contractions during stage 1 labour. A small quantity is applied after the first vaginal examination to assess labour stage and again on subsequent vaginal examinations. Once the second stage labour is underway, the second stage syringe is applied to assist the delivery.
Dianatal® obstetric gel adheres to the vaginal walls and forms a thin, lubricating layer between your baby and your birth canal to reduce friction and ease birth.
You should consult your doctor or midwife well in advance of your anticipated delivery date if you intend to use Dianatal® obstetric gel for the birth of your baby.
