Why is the nose so important?

The nose and the nasal mucosa have an important role to play in breathing. They moisten and warm inhaled air, preparing it for the body before it enters the lungs. Cilia (tiny hairs) lining the mucosa filter inhaled air, preventing airborne particles such as dust, microbes, pollution and smoke from entering into the lungs.

By conditioning and filtering the air, the nose acts as the body's first line of defence against external particles that are potentially dangerous to our body. If the nose is too dry and congested, it cannot function properly, increasing our vulnerability to things like colds.

What causes nasal dryness?

A dry nose may result from:

Inhaling dry air (in air-conditioned buildings, airplanes or dry, hot climates)
Inhaling foreign particles such as dust and smoke or being in a polluted environment
Blowing your nose excessively
Ageing (in particular menopausal women)
Radiation therapy to the head or throat
Nasal surgery
Nosebleeds
Use of certain medications - e.g. nasally administered allergy or steroid medicines. Certain acne medications can also cause nasal dryness.
During and after a common cold

What are the symptoms of nasal dryness?

You may experience any of the following symptoms: dryness, itchiness, irritation and / or an increased need to rub or touch your nose (due to the formation of dry, itchy deposits inside your nose).

Did you know that once your nose starts to itch, it’s inevitable that you’ll start rubbing or even picking it? A large number of the cold and flu germs that enter our body do so as people rub or pick their noses. So if you can avoid a dry and itchy nose you might also decrease your chances of contracting a cold.

What is Nozoil™?

Nozoil™ is a nasal spray recommended for the relief of nasal dryness and crusting.

How does Nozoil™ work?

Nozoil™ protects, lubricates, softens and moisturises the nasal mucosa, providing relief from nasal dryness and discomfort; and prevents re-occurring dryness and crusting.

How do you use Nozoil™?

Blow your nose well.

Remove the plastic cap from the bottle.

Let the bottle rest on your thumb and place your second and index finger on the platform which is pushed down towards the bottle.

Before you use the spray for the first time, or if you have not used it for a long period, pump a few times until the oil is delivered in the form of a spray. Nozoil™ is an oil based product. In order to avoid stains on walls and clothes etc, spray on a tissue.

Insert the tip of the pump into one nostril. Hold the bottle upright and spray 1 to 3 times. Change the direction of the spray so that the oil reaches different parts of the mucosa. At the same time inhale air through the nose.

Repeat in the other nostril.

What are the benefits of using Nozoil™?

Nozoil™ is made from 100 % pure sesame oil. Sesame oil is a vegetable oil rich in vitamin E. Vitamin E acts as an antioxidant and protects cell walls, preventing them from being destroyed by free radicals which are found in dry and polluted air.

Nozoil™ contains no preservatives.
